Language :
The national language of the city Khanewal is Urdu
and the local language of the city is Punjabi .
Punjabi is has different accents but the basic and the
old language still has the same impression , the real
structure of the language is not changed yet . This
language was called Sansikrat , Prakant , and
Apbharansh in the period of Raja Ashok When muslims attacked the Hindustan this language
was called as Lahori , Hindni , and Multani . After
the occupied status there was a mix up of the
different languages in it , those were Farsi ,
and Arabic languages , but the base still
remained as Sansikrat . The start of language was
a verse ( Nazam ) . In District Khanewal , the
great punjabi poet Mian Jaan Muhammad did a great work
in the history of this language and he has a special
place in Punjabi Poetry .
Basics Of Culture :
Cultural and Social basics of Khanewal is like part
of Punjab Province . The local young fellows used to
represent their joy by dancing on marriages and fun
fairs . All the local fares were on secular basis .
It means that all the people belonging to different
religions used to dance and celebrate in the
same way . There was no difference among Hindus ,Muslims
, Christians , Jatts , Khatri , Barhamans ,
Sayyed or any other race . Representation of the
joy was the same and the sound of Dhol
( A
musical instrument ) , made all of them to dance
. Men and Women used to dance separately .
Lok Nach ( Local Cultural Dances )
:
Lok Nach is the local cultural dance made by the
local people of any territory . Some of
the Khanewalian Lok Nachs are described below
.
Bhangda :
Bhangda was very famous in Khanewal , not only
Khanewal but every Punjabian was the lover of Bhangda .
This delicate presentation was thought to be very
powerful and manpower stuff , and none of other dance
can compete Bhangda . This ancient dance in Khanewal
leads to the ripe of crops .
Besakhi Mela was very famous for this sort of dance .
in which all the young people specially Jatt Tribe
used to dance in villages . No special dress is needed
for it , however the Punjabis in Khanewal liked to
dress colorful dresses on this particular occasion
.
Bhangda was made on the base of clapping and on the
beat of Dhol
( A musical instrument )
Who beat this
Dhol , likely to stand in the center and all the people
used to gather around this man , as soon as he starts
to beat the Dhol , the dancers start their dance
immediately .
In start , the dancers start their dance slowly as
the beat is also slow , as the time passes the beat
increases and the dance also increases in the speed and
changes its structure with the change in the beat of
Dhol .The movement increases and increases until the
rhythm is in its full swing . That is the climax of
Bhangda .
Bhangda is made more beautiful by saying the specific
words " Balle Balle " and "Hole Hole" Sometimes for
interest the people are divided into sub teams and
compete each other . In this way this Bhangda dance
process carries on for hours .
Gidda :
This is a typical women dance which was used to dance
by the women of Khanewal mostly in villages .
This dance got the intensity like Bhangda Women liked
to present their art on different festivals
specially on marriages . In recent district Khanewal
like other parts of Punjab , the festival of ' Tian '
also is celebrated , from 3rd of moon calendar up to
14th of moon calendar month . The rainy season is also
associated with this dance and women who are
virgin or married likely to wait for this rainy season
to perform Gidda . Sometimes , they used to use
the trees of Peepal or Bargad to hang the ropes on it
and enhance this sort of dance called ' Gidda ' .
Sammi :
Sammi was also a famous dance in Khanewal among
women . No music instrument was needed for this
dance . Clapping of hands , movement of hands , and
Chutkian were the basic parts of this dance and the movement of feet in dance mood was likely to have a fine
rhythm with basic parts of dance as described earlier .
This was a famous dance of Sandal Bar . The name of
dance is associated with the girl named
' Sammi ' , who
used to sing and dance for her lover .
Kukli :
A typical women game in which the one pair consisting
of two women or girls hold the hands of other girl
and move in a round shaped movement . This dance is
present in city locals but specially it occurs
in villages .
Villager ' s Drama :
Villagers used to present drama before the people for
their entertainment . In ancient times
, villager 's drama is likely to be Nach ,
Naqali , Baazi Gari , and Notanki etc . Now this has
been changed in Bhand , Ras Dhari , and Naqal . These
people beat their dhol along with the drama and earn
their living . |
