Load new emoticons
Here's how it works:
- Open MSN Messenger and choose Tools from
the menu bar at the top
- Select Create Emoticons
- A My Custom Emoticons window will open
- Click Find Image
- When you've found the image on your computer, select Open
- Type a keyboard shortcut you'd like to use with your new
emoticon
- Give your emoticon a name
- Click OK

Set a custom background
Here's how it works:
- Open MSN Messenger and choose Tools from
the menu bar at the top
- Select Create Backgrounds
- A My Backgrounds window will open
- Click Browse to find the image you would like to
add and select Open
- The desired image file will be added to your list of background
pictures
- To set a default, click on the name of the image you want,
select Set Default, and click OK

Load new display pictures
Here's how it works:
- Open MSN Messenger and choose Tools from
the menu bar at the top
- Select Change Display Picture
- A My Display Picture window will open
- Click Browse to find the image you would like to
add and select Open
- The desired image file will be added to your list of display
pictures

Change your background while you're instant
messaging
Here's how it works:
- In the conversation window, click on Backgrounds
in the send message frame
- Choose the background you'd like to use in conversation
with your contact
- Your background will change, and now whenever you have
a conversation with this contact again, the background you
chose will appear

Share Backgrounds with your friends while
instant messaging
Here's how it works:
- In the conversation window, click Share Current Background
in the send message frame
- Choose the background you'd like to use
- Your friend will be sent an invitation to share your background.
Your friend must accept to see the background you've chosen
